I used this tent while riding the Utah BDR and overall it worked really well. I don’t have any major complaints about the tent itself. It packed well on the motorcycle, gave me the space I needed at camp, and did exactly what I needed it to do throughout the trip. The main reason I’m giving it 4/5 instead of 5/5 is setup time. It wasn’t quite as quick or intuitive to set up as I would ideally like for motorcycle camping. I was usually taking about twice as long to get my tent set up as my buddy who was riding the BDR with me. That comparison isn’t entirely fair, though. He’s had his tent for more than five years and has done plenty of backpacking and hiking trips with it, while I was still getting familiar with mine. I’m sure I’ll get significantly faster with more practice. Overall, I’m very happy with the tent. It performed well on a multi-day BDR trip and I don’t have any real complaints about its quality or design. I’d just like the setup process to be a little quicker, especially after a long day on the motorcycle.

Alps Mountaineering | Helix 2 Person Tent

I bought this tent in 2022 and still going strong and no leaks. Simple to put up and big enough for all my gear both in the vestibules and inside. I rode my bike for 82 days, 11,209 miles across the U.S from Maine to Oregon. Camped the whole way. Still to this day Oct. 2024 it still works great in the rain. Peace of mind. Just if you know bad weather is coming be sure to tie out all the guy lines. I've been through massive downpours and high winds. Yes obviously kept me awake but it never collapsed or bent over. Remember, set guy lines out. Nobody wants to be doing that during high winds and rain. Close the vents in bad weather and you should be all set. Tip: Pack stakes with poles and separate them from the tent bag. Get something to use for a footprint. I used a small tarp from harbor freight, folded and taped with some repair tape I had so it was slightly smaller than the tent. With the poles out of the tent bag the footprint fits fine with the tent and fly.
